Ignite Newsmagazine is a weekly, half-hour television show produced by students in the Journalism and Television Production programs at Mohawk College.
The show gives a glimpse into life at the school, focusing on stories of interest to Mohawk’s students. Feature interviews with newsmakers, movie reviews and profiles are rounded out with the latest news not only at Mohawk, but in the wider Hamilton community as well.

According to the latest Hunger Report, the number of post-secondary students using food banks is among one of the highest-growing populations using the service.
Almost four per cent of those using food banks in Ontario are either post-secondary students or recent graduates, which amounts to an increase from just one per cent from last year.
This is not a shocking statistic to Wendy Rolfe, the Student Services manager at the MSA, which operates the food bank at Mohawk.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
Not really.
It’s the end of the semester (yay!) and exams are upon us (boo!). When studying takes over your life, the first thing to go is sleep.
Dr David Higgins, President of St Joseph’s Hospital, offered some insight into why people sleep and how students can sleep better. He said getting a good night’s sleep is “very, very important”.
According to Higgins, there are two waves of sleep: deep- or slow-wave sleep and dreaming sleep.
