Mohawk gave back to students in a sweet way on Wednesday.
The school celebrated Student Appreciation Day, drawing inspiration from the classic movie Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory.
Events included 4,000 slices of free pizza, cake pops, candy giveaways, and a chance to win a $500 “golden ticket prize pack” of gift certificates to local businesses.
Debra Pearson, Mohawk’s Orientation & Special Events Coordinator, said it’s about keeping the students excited about coming to college.

In Karen Simpson’s letter to the future, the former president of the Student Representative Council (now the MSA) predicted flying cars and vitamin supplements in place of food. While neither have come to be (yet), Simpson was right in believing we would still appreciate a good Scotch whisky. A tiny bottle of Chivas Regal was her grand contribution to the time capsule, enclosed inside the wall of the Mohawk College Student Centre in 1986.

Mohawk College students showed their school spirit and fitness Friday afternoon by defeating McMaster University in the MyHamilton Amazing Race.
The race had students running all over downtown Hamilton, completing challenges, and using the MyHamilton app to share their experiences throughout the city’s core.
Three teams of four students from Mohawk and McMaster registered to take part in the race. They started at the Staircase Theatre on Dundurn Street before racing off to a variety of locations including the Hamilton Farmer’s Market and Tourism Hamilton before finishing at the Design Annex on …
