[26 Mar 2013 | Comments Off on Rodeo comes to town | ]

It was bulls, broncs, and barrels at the Ancaster Fairgrounds this weekend as the Ontario Finals Rodeo rode into town.
There was standing-room only as fans lined up along the ring, decked out in their cowboy hats and boots to watch their favourite events.
Bull riding was the most popular event, with people standing on the bleachers to get a good look at the brave riders who attempted to hold on for the eight seconds they had to last to qualify for a score.
“It’s really hard to explain what it’s like to …

[23 Mar 2013 | Comments Off on Take me under: reflections on The Undertaker, Wrestlemania, and a life of wrestling fandom | ]

Disturbing organ music played. The camera panned to the distraught face of a young child, no more than five or six. If I was there, instead of watching on TV, that distraught face could have been mine.
“Coming down the aisle … from Death Valley, weighing 328 pounds, The Undertaker!”

When you walk into the Old Fire House Art Centre in Ancaster, three tables lined side-by-side are topped with pizza, pasta, salad, cookies, and small stacks of paper plates. Mohawk College’s Building Renovation students are working day and night to complete renovations to the second floor of the cozy Ancaster Theatre.
The renovations were sponsored in part by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, with a grant to the theatre for $74,700. Theatre Ancaster is getting more bang for its buck by getting Mohawk students to help complete the project.

[21 Mar 2013 | Comments Off on New printers should save paper … but are they worth it? | ]

Mohawk’s new printers are online and ready for students to use. The new printers can be found around the school at various locations including the I-wing and the library in H-wing. The new printers are set to print on both sides of the page to save paper, and students will be charged more if they wish to print single-sided copies.
“The reason that they decided to go by default with two-sided is because they are trying to be environmentally conscious, said librarian Andriana Drakos. “The best way to do that is …

[20 Mar 2013 | Comments Off on Survey gives students a chance to contribute | ]

Do you have a professor who consistently provides excellent lecture material? Or is there a professor who you feel doesn’t post enough on eLearn?

The confidential and customized survey is sent out by VP of Academics Cheryl Jensen every term, and this year, it’s more accessible for students on the go.
“They can do it on their phones, they can use their …
