From the moment Michael Burgess stepped out on stage at Mohawk’s MacIntyre Performing Arts Centre, the eyes of the audience were fixed on him. Many in the audience wondered why the popular singer would choose to conceal himself behind a ball cap and a pair of black sunglasses. It wasn’t until the spotlight adjusted on him that they could see half his face was disfigured.

Any hockey club faced with their captain being injured and not in the lineup for an elongated period, coupled with the loss of their top scorer would be struggling. But the Hamilton Red Wings, only needed time to acclimate their game through a surprising depth of scoring that has miraculously materialized.
