A shirt made entirely out of Timmies cups was one of many creative and unique pieces of clothing featured on the runway at Revolution Wear’s 10th Annual fashion show.

Henna tattoos, Hijab tutorials and candy were given out to Mohawk College students in celebration of Islamic Awareness week. This is the second year Mohawk has put together a week of events aimed at providing knowledge about the Islam and its culture.
At the opening event on Monday, students clustered around Jennifer Kadija as she did a tutorial on how to properly wear a Hijab.

The One Match Stem Cell and Marrow network stopped by Mohawk College recently, searching the C-Wing Atrium for young, healthy stem cell donors.
The visit was part of a national “Get Swabbed” campaign, and involved One Match’s Co-ordinator of Donor Management, Sharron Cairns, setting up a booth to recruit Mohawk students.

Mohawk will not repeat as Ontario Colleges Athletic Association men’s basketball champions. The Sheridan Bruins rallied from a 14 point second quarter deficit to defeat the Mountaineers 88-70 at Seneca College Saturday night (March 2).

And tonight (Saturday March 2), at Seneca College, the Mohawk Mountaineers and the Sheridan Bruins will play for all the marbles. It’s the gold medal match of the 2013 Belair Direct OCAA Men’s Basketball Championship.

Mohawk point guard Manny Campbell picked up a pair of honours at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Championship awards ceremony at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites Toronto- Markham Thursday (Feb. 28). The Burlington native was named a First Team West Division All-Star and a Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Canadian. Campbell was among the OCAA’s top five players in steals with 57 and assists with 69. He averaged 13.7 points per game while contributing 76 rebounds and three blocks.

The Mohawk Mountaineers fell just short of another upset, losing a dramatic five set decision to the Nipissing Lakers of North Bay at the OCAA Men’s Volleyball Championship gold medal match at Sheridan College in Oakville Saturday (Feb. 23). The Mountaineers, who knocked off Redeemer and Algonquin en route to an appearance in the final match, went home with the silver medal, bowing 16-25, 25-20, 21-25, 25-22, 7-15.

The Mohawk Mountaineers stunned the top-seeded team in the province, sweeping the Algonquin Thunder of Ottawa 3-0, to earn a berth in the gold medal match of the OCAA Men’s Volleyball Championship at Sheridan College in Oakville Friday (Feb. 22).
Mohawk will face the Nipissing University Lakers of North Bay in the final Saturday at 5:00 pm. The Lakers beat the reigning national champion Humber Hawks, also 3-0, in their semi final.
