Is Hamilton still a Steel City?

Hamilton’s history as Canada’s “Steel Town” is becoming a distant memory – and nowhere is that clearer than at the new Tim Hortons Field.
The skeleton of the $145.7-million stadium is being constructed using steel outsourced from three American companies: Nucor, Steel Dynamics and Gerdeau. That’s right – Steel Town will not even be supplying the steel for its own stadium.
According to Walters Inc., the steel fabrication company that was awarded the bid, Hamilton does not produce the appropriate materials for the job.
