If you only took one thing away from Bruce Croxon’s speech last night at the McIntyre Theatre, it should have been this: Kevin O’Leary is not as big a jerk as he seems on TV.
Dragons’ Den member and Lavalife co-creator Bruce Croxon spoke at the year’s first Mohawk Talks, a series supported by the college and community, which brings influential speakers to Hamilton. A rapt audience of fans and entrepreneurs gathered in the theatre, trying to get as close to Croxon as possible.

Toronto-based singer/songwriter Trish Robb kicked off the jam session with a handful of original songs before stepping back to act as judge and the evening’s host.
Students from Mohawk’s music program, as well as a handful of other programs, came out to show off their original compositions and musical talent, despite many finding out about the event on short notice. Ever since Danielle Beaudin was a little girl, music has been a big part of her life. When she was a young kid, she rallied together some neighbourhood friends to start a band with her.
“We would put on concerts in the backyard and make all of our parents come and watch, and dress up like the Spice Girls or something. Thought we were pretty cool doing that, but it was fun,” Beaudin recalled, laughing.
