It’s no secret that social media is becoming more prevalent in our society. However, it might be less known that social media is actively transforming how we get our news.
A 2011 study by the Canadian Media Research Consortium (CMRC), finds that nearly 60 per cent of Canadians regularly get their news from social media. The study also found that a majority of those people, who get their news from social media, found that it broadened the range of news and information they got compared to getting news from traditional sources.
